Just above Joigny the Chapel of Vauguillain stands tall and proud. This castle chapel used to be part of a fortress that was built in the 12th century. Nowadays, only a few metres of the upper ramparts are still visible.

Walk in Joigny town centre
Joigny centre features mainly raised houses with 16th-century timber framing. Some of the building facades are decorated with real works of art sculpted into the wood.

Joigny market
Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, come and buy fresh produce from the region's local farmers. There's no shortage of colourful fruit, vegetables and cheese, and your tastebuds will be spoilt for choice. You'll find 80 stallholders at the indoor market, and another 60 outside.

Grab your trainers and make the most of the scenic surroundings! You'll see Cézy bridge as well as the Bourgogne Côte Saint-Jacques vineyard.
